A single Telefarm notification can save months of a farmer’s work
The era of digital livestock farm management has arrived.
“This is evident from the growing interest in such tools, especially among entrepreneur-farmers and younger producers who are more digitally savvy,” explains Artemis Agiomavriti, Project Manager at Telefarm.
“But beyond farmers themselves,” she adds, “all stakeholders in livestock production have shown strong interest in the Telefarm platform. We understand that the transition to digital farming will be gradual. And while the benefits are clear, it’s only natural for farmers to have questions about how a digital management system can fit into their daily operations.”
“At Telefarm, we’re committed to supporting every livestock producer who wants to embrace digital solutions,” she continues.
“We work closely with each client to customize the system based on their specific needs and capacity. Our goal is to build long-term relationships based on trust.”
Agro24: What does the Telefarm platform offer livestock farmers?
Artemis Agiomavriti: Using our platform, farmers can monitor their farms at any time, in real-time — even from their mobile phones.
They can track microclimate conditions in the barn, monitor animal feed and water consumption, assess energy use, and analyze the performance of production and other key indicators.
In addition, the platform provides 24/7 alerts and — if desired — allows the farmer to intervene remotely and adjust the environment inside the facility from home.
Farmers are increasingly realizing how critical this knowledge can be.
“Sometimes, a single alert can save months of work that would otherwise be lost,” says Agiomavriti.
The system also enables producers to compare animal productivity and evaluate the economic efficiency of their operations, making data-driven adjustments where needed.
Agro24: What are the latest upgrades or new features?
Artemis Agiomavriti:
Our R&D department is currently developing a series of innovative tools and services tailored to goat and sheep farms — which are a dominant part of Greek livestock production.
There’s a real need for digital tools in this sector, and we are actively addressing it.
At the same time, our team continues to experiment with new sensors and technologies that can be applied to animal farming. That’s the core idea behind Telefarm: to continuously evolve through innovation.
Agro24: Does the Telefarm platform align with the new CAP (Common Agricultural Policy)?
Artemis Agiomavriti:
The new CAP places strong emphasis on knowledge exchange, innovation, and digital transformation in agriculture. Its goal is to help farmers adopt innovative practices and gain access to research. In this respect, Telefarm is fully aligned with the CAP’s core objectives.
The CAP also supports the EU Green Deal, including the Farm to Fork strategy and the One Health concept, which prioritizes animal welfare and environmental sustainability.
Telefarm directly contributes to these goals by enabling:
Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
Sustainable growth and efficient use of natural resources (e.g., water)
Improved productivity and product quality at the farm level
Agro24: What can we expect from Telefarm in 2024?
Artemis Agiomavriti:
We have many ideas — and even more work ahead.
In 2024, we’re focusing on launching new products and services specifically for goat and sheep farming. At the same time, we are continuously improving and upgrading our existing offerings. Everything we do is guided by the needs of both the sector and our farmers.
